Getting Absolute Poker on a Mac is easy because Absolute Poker actually designed software made just for Mac computers. Few poker sites go to the trouble of making Mac-compatible software but Absolute Poker knows that the Mac demographic is growing every day.

At most poker sites, your only options are to play through some sort of no-download flash version that plays through your web browser or you can use a Windows emulator to play the download version on your Mac. In both cases, you don’t get as in-depth an experience as if you actually had Mac poker software.

Installing the Absolute Poker Mac Software

You can get started by visiting the Absolute Poker website and clicking on the “AP MAC Version” link in the middle of the page beneath the “Play” tab. You’ll then be taken to a page that has a little information about the Mac software and a download link.

After you get the software downloaded, you can then run it any time to access the poker lobby and actual poker tables. The first time you run the software, you’ll be asked to create a new account. Just follow the instructions on the screen and you’ll have your account ready to go in less than 5 minutes.

At one point during the sign up process, you’ll be asked for your Absolute Poker referral code. Just type the code “MPC” in to that box. That referral code will flag your account to receive a 150% bonus on your first deposit there. Even if you don’t plan on making a deposit, you might as well use this referral code so that you get the bonus if you decide to deposit some other day.

Summary

The Absolute Poker Mac software is fast and reliable but it is still a little bit limited compared to the PC version. The Mac software is a definite step in the right direction but it could still use just a tad bit of work.

The main thing I noticed about the Absolute Poker Mac software is that it only allows you to open a maximum of 3 tables at a time. The PC download version supports up to 20 tables at a time. Additionally, the Mac software is missing the following features:

>>  Keyboard hot keys
>>  Cascading and Tiling tables
>>  Multiple table views

These features are all supposed to be added soon but none of them are deal killers. The only problem I had was the maximum of three tables open at a time. If you don’t mind that, though, you’ll find the Mac software to be just as effective as the PC version.

Overall, the Absolute Poker Mac software is worth using if you only play 3 or fewer tables at a time. Players who play many tables at once may want to try a windows emulator or visit one of these other online poker sites.
